Make it simpler and faster to create multilingual websites that are search engine optimized
10 April 2010
Having a multilingual website brings great benefits to your credibility if you're targeting a global market.
Although your prospects may speak English as a foreign language, they will be much happier and more likely to buy your services or products if your multilingual website communicates to them in their native language.
Different types of text to translate
When translating your website, you need to make sure that all the text is translated; otherwise your prospects will see a mixture of English and their own language, which isn't professional:
- Webpage main title
- Webpage main text
- Web address of the webpage
- Meta tags (keywords and description), for some search engines
- Title tag in the header, which is displayed in the top browser bar
- Text used to link to the webpages
- Error messages
- E-mail messages
In my multilingual website builder, you only need to enter 2 pieces of information in the correct language and other elements of your webpage will automatically be derived from them:
- Webpage main title
- Webpage main text
All the other elements are automatically filled in, which makes creating multilingual webpages much easier while not missing all the elements you need to hit to get a good search engine optimization.
