New bespoke website launched: translation agency Kinmokusei

26 April 2010

I have launched a new bespoke design website for a translation agency: Kinmokusei. Karin Yoshida, who runs Kinmokusei, asked me to redesign her website and make it "warm and pretty".

Bespoke design: how to make a website "warm and pretty"?

I decided to use a light peach colour with a lot of white to make the Kinmokusei bespoke design warm. I browsed a collection of professional photography before settling on flowers. I chose two types of flowers: the pink cherry blossoms to reinforce the warm feeling of the page and a series of bright colourful daisies to give a pretty and vibrant image to the design.

Cultural connotation of the cherry blossoms

One of the languages Kinmokusei works with is Japanese. Cherry blossoms are strongly associated with Japan, so I thought that would make this choice of flowers appropriate for Kinmokusei bespoke website design.

In Japan, cherry trees were planted and cultivated for their beauty, for the adornment of the grounds of the nobility of Kyoto, at least as early as 794.
