Unplanned disruption on 21st April 2010 for half an hour

22 April 2010

I use monitoring tools that regularly check that all my websites are up and running. There was an unplanned maintenance in my data centre from 21:56 to 22:25 yesterday. This unexpected downtime meant that all my websites disappeared for half an hour, but they all came back without any loss of data.

My website builder runs in a top of the range data centre from Microsoft in Ireland, and most of the time it works absolutely fine. However, yesterday, an unplanned maintenance meant my service was disrupted for half an hour.

Apologies to my customers

I do apologize for the inconvenience caused to my customers. I contacted Microsoft support instantly and kept on working with them on this issue until it was resolved.

What to do if you ever need my support

If you ever experience any difficulty, my support is available to all my customers. Whatever your issue, get in touch by e-mail on support@ebabel.eu or give me a call on 07833 995 394. I can also be reached on Twitter and Facebook.

Microsoft data centres and their services

The status of the Microsoft data centres and their services can be checked on a single webpage that also lists several RSS feeds. At the bottom of the page, a historical chart can be used to query previous issues. The one relevant to my half an hour outage is on the Windows Azure Compute service, April 21st, North Europe (see screenshot below).
