Why you should use my website builder
01 April 2010
Making a website shouldn't be rocket science. I have worked for about 10 years in web development, and since the early days of making websites, the industry has seen an increasing number of tools to simplify making websites.
One area of web publishing always interested me: building multilingual websites. That's why in December 2009, I launched a new multilingual website builder: eBabel.
How do I make it simple to build multilingual websites?
During the initial 6 months of starting my company, I worked hard on putting all my years of experience making websites into a single website builder. My one target was to make it easy to publish webpages in several languages.
Although there are many other website builders, mine is different because it's really simple to use. I've tried using the other website builders and although they are very good, I disagree with the number of features they throw at their users.
I believe that putting a website together, even a multilingual one, shouldn't require understanding web programming. Instead, publishing a good website should be about the content. Everyone is a specialist in their own field, and that's what my multilingual website builder lets you express.
The rules of making it easy to build a multilingual website
- The first rule is to focus on building simple pages. A page is made of four things: a title, a link to go to that page, a body of text and some attractive photos.
- The second rule is to have a consistent design throughout the website. It's important that each webpage reinforces the identity of the whole website, but the system should make that process very easy.
That's why my multilingual website builder doesn't require rebuilding the same designs on each webpage. Instead, a professional design that will work on all pages is selected for the whole website. From there on, creating a new page only requires a bit more content because all the design elements are already in place. - The third and last rule is that all websites should be programmed in a way that is search engine friendly. I have seen many websites that look good visually but don't actually work when search engines index them.
This isn't an issue with my multilingual website builder: the search engine optimization has already been taken care of, all you need now is to write good content and hopefully other websites will start linking to yours, which will boost your website up the search engine rankings.
Why multilingual?
In Europe, many languages are spoken, and most businesses could do with marketing their services and selling their products to other countries. It's very hard for customers in other European countries to trust a website will deliver if they don't even try to speak in their language. That's why I've made it easy to create multilingual webpages and to link pages of the same content in different languages together.
